"As an elected official, I recognize the need to create and foster a pro-jobs, pro-business climate. I know businesses are the backbone of our economy, and I work every day to ensure we do all we can to help them keep their doors open." -- Sen. Greg Reed

Senator Greg Reed says the most important component to a successful economy is job security and job creation. Simply put, jobs are job one. Those sent to the Statehouse in Montgomery must have a true commitment to giving businesses, both small and large, the freedom to operate without burdensome regulation and restriction. The current Legislative climate in Alabama is far friendlier to business owners and operators than in days gone by, and it is because of leaders like Greg Reed who ensure that remains true for the future.

Governor Bentley and other state officials are working to attract new industry to the state, and Greg is a tireless advocate in that effort. He also supports the Alabama Tourism Department to showcase the state's many travel destinations and vacation opportunities.

Greg believes when government meddles in the affairs of the business community, the result is catastrophic. Overreaching legislation like the environmental mandates passed by the Obama Administration only undermine the ability of businesses to grow and prosper. Greg strongly feels the best way for business to succeed, expand and hire additional employees is to free them from the bonds of governmental interference.

Also key to growth for businesses and ultimately the state's economy, is providing a skilled workforce. Greg knows that our economy will vastly improve when workers are prepared to take meaningful rather than minimum wage jobs. Our two-year colleges, like Bevill State Community College, are doing a great job prepping individuals for 21st century opportunities, and he support their efforts. That is why he is a proponent of workforce development so that business expansions will hire Alabamians to fill jobs within the state.
